My July 2022
I count five major topics for me this July.
1. I started doing ZOOM interviews with students. I did that twice. I then edited and added these interviews to my podcasts. I have two reasons for doing this. One is for my students, giving them a chance to use their English in a unique setting. With that, I have learned that they are nervous and then surprised to hear themselves. The second reason is for my practice. I will interview foreigners who teach ESL from around the world. I need to prepare for that, first by making sure I can use ZOOM and other mechanics properly.
2. Miwako’s sister and her family came to visit from France. Our daughters have grown up, married and are out of the house. It was too easy for us to host three members of M’s family; her sister and two sons who are 16 and 12. I rarely met them as I was busy teaching, and they were out shopping. The best bargain was that M, and I did a lot of housecleaning before their arrival. It was nice to have them here and our house is much cleaner. That is a Win-Win situation. We also had three family get-togethers.
3. YouTube revival. I made a lot of videos when I turned 60 years old. Why? Because I was trying to promote our business. I also quit drinking that year and just for that year. And after a time, I quit making videos. I started again this month. I am promoting myself as The Greatest ESL teacher in Japan and perhaps the world. I want to encourage foreigners to challenge me and discuss/debate with them and make podcasts of our discussions. Of course, I will become rich and famous! Also, the YouTube world is interesting. I am learning (and forgetting) a lot of technical stuff. It has become a great study for me. YouTube tutorials have become my newest best friend.
4. I quit cleaning the vacant lot. I don’t have the time nor the will to do it anymore. I can now work solely on my garden as well as the two adjoining lots.
Finally, I am still not drinking. That is 14 months now. I don’t study Japanese much anymore. And I continue my morning exercises every day. Whattaguy!
